SIRES AND SEALS
SIRES: Vampires that are bitten have a special relationship with their makers. Generally vampires turn a human because they want to continue on their race. They have most likely killed another vampire or are not able to reproduce naturally. There are special cases where elders and lords and such will turn a human because they think they have potential. It is not likely that a vampire will turn a human because they love them. This is because vampires don't usually have relationships with humans beyond using them for food. It just isn't something considered very tasteful for their kind, no pun intended. A vampire dating a human is like a human dating a chimpanzee. It just doesn't happen.
VIRI SEALS: This is a very complicated thing. Seals are the bond between two vampires. It is done to ensure that a female vampire only mates or associates sexually with one male vampire. The seal is only given to born vampire females if it is intended for mating. Bitten vampire females cannot have children, so it is likely that their brand is for identification to their maker or a consensual seal with another vampire. Born vampire females will always be given to the most worthy men of the coven. They are often picked at the time of puberty, though many don't consummate it until the child is older, around twenty. Of course in order to make the seal worth anything, there must be a consummation, basically sex. This brings both vampires together body and mind. It lasts for fifty years and cannot be broken in that time. Afterward it is just a mark, but many vampires choose to stay bonded with their sealed mate. A man does not have to keep to just the woman he has bonded with, but he is not at any time allowed to touch another girl with a seal. They do not belong to him. Which means that the girl with the seal may only be with the man she is sealed to. There lies the issue. A man must keep his woman under control during this mating period if he wants to keep his reputation. This isn't considered a practice that invades rights to freedom. It is a tradition to keep the race alive and is generally accepted by all vampires in the coven. It is understood that it must be done and does not last forever. For these people, it may even seem like the blink of an eye in their life span. It is simply their way of life.
IGNUS SEALS: The Ignus have a little more freedom with their seals. To them, seals are like marriage. You have them when you want to and they cannot be imposed upon anyone. They work in a similar way to Viri seals because they are after all unique to vampires in general. They pride themselves on monogamy however, unlike the Viri. Relationships with seals are more important than procreation.
